Honest review of Embassy Suites Niagara Falls. Stunning dual waterfall views but disappointing amenities, parking costs, and breakfast. A realistic family staycation experience.
Quick Overview
• Stunning views of both the American Falls and Canadian Horseshoe Falls
• Suite-style rooms suitable for families
• Very limited amenities for the price
• No complimentary bottled water or basic in-room items
• Breakfast and overall service were underwhelming
• Highly weather-dependent experience
Why We Chose Embassy Suites Niagara Falls
Our goal for this year-end family staycation was simple:
to show our kids the winter Niagara Falls illuminated with rainbow-colored lights, and hopefully enjoy fireworks as well.
When choosing a Niagara Falls hotel, we focused on three key criteria:
1. A high-floor room
2. A hotel with views of both the American and Canadian Falls
3. No buildings blocking the waterfall view
We considered Sheraton, Hilton, and Marriott.
• Sheraton mainly faces the American Falls
• Marriott focuses on the Canadian Horseshoe Falls
Because Embassy Suites Niagara Falls is located between the two, it seemed like the perfect compromise.

After much deliberation, we booked it.
In hindsight, it wasn’t the right choice for us.
Arrival, Weather & First Impressions
The weather had been clear and beautiful for days — until the exact day we left.
Snow started falling, the sky turned completely gray, and the city felt cold and gloomy.

Since this hotel heavily markets its Niagara Falls view, bad weather immediately felt like a bad sign. And unfortunately, it stayed that way throughout our visit.

Parking & Check-In Tips (Hilton Honors)
Valet parking at the hotel costs $70 per day, which felt excessive.bInstead, we parked at Ritz Inn Niagara, located one block uphill, for $20 per day. It was an easy walk and a much better option.

If you’re a Hilton Honors member, you can check in one day early and select your room in advance.
We chose a 25th-floor room (#09) that promised views of both waterfalls — and we did receive that exact room.
Important Room View Terms to Know
• US Falls Only / Canadian Falls Only → One waterfall view
• Partial View of Niagara Falls → Partially blocked view
• View of Niagara Falls & American Falls → Both waterfalls fully visible (best option)
Room Layout, View & Bathroom
The suite was divided into two rooms connected by a hallway:
• A bedroom with the waterfall view
• A second room with a sofa bed and no windows (mostly used for luggage)

The bathroom layout was practical:
• Separate shower and toilet
• A bathtub, which was great for kids
For family travel, the bathroom was one of the better aspects of the room.

In-Room Amenities (or Lack Thereof)
The hallway included an extra sink, with a microwave and minibar across from it. Microwaves are common in North American hotels and usually very convenient. However, this is where disappointment began.

There were no basic in-room items at all:
• No cups or glasses
• No spoons
• No tea or coffee set
• No complimentary bottled water
The only place to buy water was the convenience store downstairs: $10 for a 1.5L bottle. Because it was cold and snowing, we ended up buying two bottles for $20 — easily the most frustrating expense of the trip.
Slippers and bathrobes were also not provided.
• Slippers: thankfully, I brought my own
• Bathrobes: available only with a $100 deposit per robe
We skipped the robes and headed to the pool fully dressed.
Pool, Evening Snacks & Hotel Facilities
The indoor pool was small but adequate for kids. The water was quite cold, so most guests crowded into the small jacuzzi. There is an outdoor terrace, but it’s closed during winter.

At check-in, we received coupons for complimentary drinks and snacks.
The coupons included:
• One beer or wine per person
• Snacks limited to pretzels, chips, or nuts

Ironically, we later noticed a free water dispenser next to the coffee machine — something we hadn’t known about earlier.

Night View, Illumination
The falls were illuminated late at night, occasionally switching to rainbow colors. Unfortunately, our kids went to bed early and missed it — they would have loved it.

From the bed, the Niagara Falls night view was calming and meditative. That said, the falls appeared much smaller in real life than in photos, especially on a foggy night.

Worth It for Families?
Embassy Suites Niagara Falls may look appealing on paper—especially with its large rooms and fallsview suites—but for families, the overall experience can be disappointing.
While the two-room layout sounds ideal for parents traveling with kids, issues with cleanliness, crowd management, and service consistency made the stay feel stressful rather than relaxing. During peak family travel seasons, the hotel feels overwhelmed, which directly affects the quality of the experience.
For families looking for a smooth, well-organized stay, this hotel may fall short of expectations—especially when compared to newer or better-managed Fallsview properties.
Breakfast & Final Verdict
Breakfast was included, but it matched the poor reviews we had already read.
Options were limited to:
• Sausages
• Scrambled eggs
• Fruit
• Cereal
• Yogurt
That was it. Even basic U.S. 3-star hotels often offer better breakfasts. For a Hilton-branded hotel, this was particularly disappointing.

Final Thoughts
The weather never cleared during our stay. And because Embassy Suites Niagara Falls relies so heavily on its view, everything else felt magnified when the view failed.

If the sky had been clear, the dual-waterfall view alone might have compensated for the hotel’s shortcomings. But without it, the price simply didn’t feel justified.
As we drove home, looking back at the mist-covered falls, I made a quiet promise to myself: next time, we’ll stay at the Marriott.
If you’re choosing between Embassy Suites and other Fallsview hotels for a family trip, the differences become even more noticeable in day-to-day comfort. Compared to Embassy Suites, Marriott Fallsview offers a more consistent experience for families, with better-managed common areas, smoother elevator flow, and a less chaotic overall atmosphere—important factors when traveling with children.

Ending the Trip on a Better Note: Niagara-on-the-Lake
While the view from Embassy Suites Niagara Falls was memorable, we felt the overall stay left something to be desired. That’s why adding a short visit to Niagara-on-the-Lake afterward helped rebalance our trip. It’s a calmer, more charming stop—especially if you’re traveling with kids and want to end your Niagara visit on a better note.
