Breakfast: Start the Day Right

Breakfast is served at Antler Shanty Grub from 7:30 AM. We arrived right at opening and enjoyed a relaxed experience with plenty of seating. The buffet includes made-to-order omelets, waffles, pancakes, breads, and a variety of fresh fruits. Vegetables in omelets were chopped generously, giving fresh flavor.
Tip:
Arrive at 7:30 AM to beat the crowd. By 9 AM, the restaurant fills up quickly, so early arrival lets you enjoy a leisurely meal and head to the waterpark before the main rush. Kids can easily find favorites like pancakes or bread, and adults can grab coffee or tea without waiting.
Lunch Options: Convenient, Filling, and Kid-Friendly (But Not Fancy)

Lunch is served inside the water park, which means you don’t have to dry off, change, or interrupt playtime. For families, this convenience is a major advantage.
Included lunch options are tied to specific outlets such as Northwood’s Pizza, Buckets, and The Watering Hole, each with a set choice menu per meal voucher, not a full à la carte meal.
There are three main lunch spots included in the meal plan:
1. Northwood’s Pizza
Northwood’s Pizza offers cheese, pepperoni, Hawaiian, and veggie pizzas, served with chips and a drink. We tried both cheese and Hawaiian—the Hawaiian was noticeably more flavorful.
Pizza slices are large and easy to share, making this a simple option for families with younger kids.
Tip:
Pick up pizza early to avoid lines and eat at the water park tables for maximum convenience.
This was the easiest option when we didn’t want to interrupt water park time.
2. Buckets
Buckets specializes in burgers and hot dogs, each served with a generous bucket of fries. Portions are large and filling—ideal for very hungry kids after hours in the water.
Buckets also has a separate kids’ menu (hot dog, burger, or chicken fingers with fries and a drink).
Important note for families:
Kids’ meal vouchers can only be used for the smaller kids’ portions here. Adults can use their own vouchers as usual.
Great for big appetites, but kids’ vouchers felt more limited at this location.
3. The Watering Hole
The Watering Hole serves tacos, nachos, and snacks. The newly added nachos were a standout—loaded with toppings and surprisingly filling.
We tried the Fuente Suprema nachos and compared beef vs. pork—the beef option was the clear winner.
Family Value Hack: Best Use of Kids’ Meal Vouchers
Use kids’ meal vouchers at The Watering Hole for better value.
Unlike Buckets, kids’ vouchers here can be redeemed for full-size menu items, not just kids’ portions—making it the smartest choice for families who want a filling lunch without using adult vouchers.

This was the best value spot for using kids’ meal vouchers during our stay.

Dinner at Antler Shanty Grub: Good Value If You Time It Right

Dinner is served buffet-style at Antler Shanty Grub, starting at 5:00 PM.
We arrived around 5:30 PM and found the restaurant already very busy. If possible, arriving right at opening time makes a noticeable difference in seating and food availability.
The buffet includes:
• Meats and hot dishes
• Noodles and made-to-order Pad Thai
• Desserts
• Soft-serve ice cream with toppings (a big hit with kids)
Tip:
Arriving at opening time gives you the best experience—less crowding and fresher dishes.
If you’re flexible with dinner timing, the buffet offers solid value.
However, arriving even 30 minutes late can mean longer waits and a more chaotic experience.
Top Meal Plan Tips for Families
1. Keep your meal vouchers organized—you’ll need one per meal.
2. Spread meals across days to fit your water park schedule.
3. Arrive early: breakfast around 7:30 AM, dinner at 5:00 PM.
4. Plan lunch based on your kids’ preferences.
5. Kids under 3 eat free; ages 4–12 are $32.99—budget accordingly.
Who the Great Wolf Lodge Meal Plan Is Best For
• Families with young kids who snack often
• Parents who want to stay inside the resort all day
• One-night stays where maximizing water park time matters most
When the Meal Plan May Not Be Worth It
• Families planning to eat outside the resort
• Very picky eaters who want specific restaurants
• Longer stays where dining variety matters more than convenience
Real-Life Family Strategy: Mixing Meal Plan + Outside Food
During our stay, we spent 2 nights and 3 days at Great Wolf Lodge Niagara Falls but chose to purchase the meal plan for only one day.
We used that one-day meal plan strategically:
- Day 2 lunch
- Day 2 dinner
- Day 3 breakfast
This allowed us to enjoy the convenience of the meal plan during the busiest part of our stay, while keeping some flexibility for the rest.
For the remaining meals—Day 1 dinner and Day 2 breakfast—we considered dining out. Niagara Falls has plenty of restaurants nearby, and for families with older kids, going out for one meal can be a nice break.
However, with younger children, leaving the resort in the evening felt realistically challenging. Instead, we stopped by a grocery store on the way in and brought simple foods our kids already liked. That made dinner much calmer and easier after a long travel day.
For breakfast the next morning, we didn’t need anything elaborate—basic bread, fruit, and the coffee provided at the hotel were more than enough.
This mixed approach—one-day meal plan + simple outside food—worked well for our family. It saved time when it mattered most, without committing to the meal plan for every single meal.
Should You Get the Great Wolf Lodge Meal Plan?
Get the meal plan if:
– You’re staying one night
– You want to maximize water park time
– You prefer not to leave the resort for meals
Skip the meal plan if:
– You plan to dine outside the resort
– You want more dining variety
– You’re staying multiple nights

Final Verdict: Is the Meal Plan Worth It for Families?
For our family, the Great Wolf Lodge Niagara Falls meal plan was worth it mainly because it saved time. Being able to eat without leaving the resort kept us focused on what the kids cared about most—the water park.
If maximizing time inside the lodge is your priority, the convenience alone can justify the cost.
However, families staying multiple nights or looking for more dining variety may prefer mixing the meal plan with outside meals.
