Gyubee Mississauga Review

As a self-proclaimed meat lover, I’m always on the lookout for great BBQ spots, and I recently discovered Gyubee in Mississauga. This place is a hidden gem for anyone craving Korean-style BBQ without breaking the bank.

Interior of Gyubee Japanese Grill in Mississauga

When a local friend suggested we try it, I was a bit confused at first. The restaurant’s name is “Gyubee Japanese Grill”, which sounds like sushi or teriyaki might be the main focus. But once we sat down, it became clear that the menu is very Korean-style. The table was already set with kimchi (spicy fermented cabbage), ssamjang (savory dipping sauce), fresh lettuce, and pickled radish, giving us that authentic Korean BBQ vibe right away.

The restaurant itself is cozy and lively, perfect  for groups of friends or family. Each table has its own built-in electric grill, which makes the cooking experience interactive and fun. The menu is accessible via a QR code, and ordering is simple and fast.

All-You-Can-Eat and the Weekend Rush

Gyubee operates on an all-you-can-eat basis, allowing you to keep ordering different meats until you’re full. The dinner price is around $45 per adult, which is a great value given the quality of the meat.

We visited on a weekend, and the line outside was surprisingly long. Making a reservation is highly recommended, especially on Saturdays and Sundays. Thanks to our friend who booked ahead, we were seated immediately without waiting.

The restaurant is designed for groups of four, but larger parties can be accommodated by joining tables. The experience is casual and relaxed, but the energy from other diners cooking and chatting around you adds to the fun.

Meat, Pork, and More

Gyubee offers a wide variety of meats: beef, lamb, chicken, pork belly (thick cut), and shrimp. Each portion is moderate, so it’s easy to try several dishes without feeling overwhelmed.

Here’s what we tried:
Miso Marinated Steak – thick cuts, slightly chewy

Sweet Soy Sauce Short Ribs – sprinkled with sesame seeds, my personal favorite

Sweet Soy Beef Brisket – thinly sliced and tender

Prime Galbi – flavorful and perfectly marinated

Pork Belly (thick cut) – authentic Korean samgyeopsal, grilled to perfection

Trying the pork belly honestly felt like being back in Korea! 😆 I highly recommend it.

There are also some special menu items like takoyaki, bibimbap, and cold noodles. These are worth trying if you have some extra room after all the meat. Personally, I was too full to try anything else, but they looked tempting.

Weekday Lunch Option

Visiting on a weekday lunch is another great option. The menu is slightly limited compared to dinner, but it still offers plenty of meat for CAD 28.99 per adult. If you want to focus purely on Korean BBQ without sampling all the special dishes, this is an excellent choice.

My husband and I actually prefer weekday lunches because the restaurant is quieter, allowing for a more relaxed dining experience. The lower price is a bonus, making it both a tasty and economical option.

Finishing on a Sweet Note

For dessert, each guest can choose Crème Brûlée or ice cream. Both are delicious, so it comes down to personal preference. It’s a simple but satisfying way to end a hearty meal.
